What's Next for Online Gambling in America?

 As it stands now, states can prohibit or allow gambling within their borders. However, interstate gambling is subject to significant restrictions and limitations. Although I doubt that this is what anyone meant, it's what we are seeing. This raises many questions and concerns, as well as American policymakers. Is legal online gambling going to mean that there will be fewer brick-and-mortar casinos? This will create new revenue sources at both the national and state levels. What about taxes? Increased gambling?

Arnie Wexler, the former chairman of New Jersey’s Council On Compulsive Gambling, expressed concern that despite all the revenue and income this could bring to individual states, there may be problems with compulsive gambling. Particular concern is expressed regarding the US's use of social media. Zynga and other sites have already started taking real-money wagers.

Many hotel casinos have already begun to explore online gambling as a complement to their existing physical casinos. Geoffrey Stewart, Caesars Online Poker's general manager, stated that "just like any business, you are always looking for the next distribution channel."
